Thirty years ago, people with cardiovascular disease were given little hope of leading normal lives. Today, returning to a healthy and active life is possible. Making changes to your lifestyle can seen daunting but most changes are not that hard… with a bit of help! Since its inception in 1996, Cardiac Rehabilitation has been helping people with those changes. The program offers both education and exercise. The education classes consist of 14 hours of information taught by trained professionals. The exercise class is monitored by a nurse and an exercise specialist to help ensure that the exercises are performed are safe and that you are working at a level that is comfortable and effective for you condition. Weight to Go
This new program is designed for people needing to lose weight to reduce the risk of, or complications from cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and obesity. We focus on the principles of how to safely and effectively lose weight and how to make these principles work in your life. The multidisciplinary team provides 14 hours of lectures on healthy eating, active living, understanding your eating habits and making safe and sustainable changes. Healthy Eating Series
These series are designed for anyone interested in learning the principles of healthy eating and particularly relevant for individuals with high cholesterol or individuals who are overweight. There are two options. The 8-hour daytime series provides an in-depth series covering dietary fat, cholesterol, vitamins, phytochemicals, alcohol and caffeine, fiber, label reading and much more. Heart Function Program
This program is ideal for individuals with suspected or newly diagnosed heart failure or individuals with ongoing problematic heart failure. Appointments include nursing and specialist assessment, recommendations for ongoing care, dosing of medications and education. Care is closely linked to the family physician to provide seamless care.
