"Christmas in Morgan Creek" benefits Peace Arch Hospital
Surrey, BC – The Morgan Creek Homeowner’s Association presented donations totaling more than $10,000 each to Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation’s Maternity Ward project. The donation was made from event proceeds from Christmas in Morgan Creek - two holiday luncheons and fashion shows and an evening gala held on November 5th and 6th.
Jackie Smith, the Foundation’s Executive Director noted “the Foundation truly appreciates the outstanding support of the Morgan Creek Homeowner’s Association, and we look forward to Christmas in Morgan Creek as the launch of our holiday season each year.
The events included raffle and door prizes donated by local merchants and offered plenty of Christmas shopping opportunities to the guests. Many volunteers help make Christmas in Morgan Creek, now in its 8h year, a huge success. To date, the Morgan Creek Homeowner’s Association has raised more than $60,000 for local charities.
Nearly 800 babies are born at Peace Arch Hospital every year. The current ward is at capacity. When the ward is full, expecting families can be sent as far away as Richmond and Burnaby to deliver their babies. With the help of the community and events like Christmas in Morgan Creek, that will soon change.
Donations in support of the new Maternity Ward can be made by visiting www.peacearchhospital.com or by calling Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation at 604.535.4520.
The campaign is one of five priority projects being funded through the $32-million Partners in Caring Campaign.
