Morgan Creek Wedding Gala goes off without a hitch

Morgan Creek Wedding Gala goes off without a hitch Surrey, BC – Morgan Creek Golf Course presented more than $2,300 to Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation’s new Maternity Ward.  The contribution resulted from donations made at the 2nd Annual Morgan Creek Wedding Gala.

“Morgan Creek has been a long standing partner of our Foundation and we appreciate its ongoing support through events like this” noted Jackie Smith, executive director of the Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation.

The event featured displays by over 30 local merchants specializing in wedding products and services, door prizes, entertainment and gourmet cuisine.  Lani Clements, catering manager for Morgan Creek Golf Course, noted that “We were extremely pleased with the turnout for this year’s event, with over 100 brides and their support teams in attendance.  This year’s event theme was “Life Milestones”, so designating the proceeds to the new Maternity Ward at Peace Arch was a natural fit.”

Nearly 800 babies are born at Peace Arch Hospital every year. The current ward is at capacity. When the ward is full, expecting families can be sent as far away as Richmond and Burnaby to deliver their babies; with the help of the community and events like Morgan Creek Wedding Gala, that will soon change.  The new Maternity Ward, which started construction this month, will feature eight state-of-the-art single room birthing suites and medical equipment – almost tripling the program’s birthing capacity.

The fundraising goal for this project is $5.3 million.  To make a donation in support of the new Maternity Ward, visit www.peacearchhospital.com or call 604.535.4520.

The Maternity Project is one of five priority projects being funded through the $32-million Partners in Caring Campaign.
