Envision Financial cares for our community
WHITE ROCK, B.C. Sept. 28, 2011 – Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation is pleased to announce that Envision Financial has made a $150,000 gift to the Foundation and credit union proud to put its name on a birthing suite in Peace Arch Hospital’s newly opened maternity unit.
“As a local credit union, we, at Envision, share the wider concerns of our members and are striving to help build strong, healthy and vibrant communities,” says Bev Brown, president of Envision Financial while touring the maternity unit on Sept. 19. “That’s why we’re so proud to partner with Peace Arch Hospital Foundation in support of the OH BABY appeal.” “This significant gift from Envision Financial will benefit close to 1,000 families a year who deliver their babies at Peace Arch Hospital,” said Jackie Smith, Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation’s executive director. “The birth of a child is a special time in a family’s life. I am so pleased that Envision Financial chose to support this project, which enables continued quality care – in a second-to-none maternity unit – for residents of this community.” From more than 60 years, Envision Financial, now a division of First West Credit Union, has been caring for the communities where its members and employees live and work. In 2010, Envision contributed $1.0 million in charitable donations to worthy causes and organizations in communities across B.C. ”Envision has a long history of giving back to the community of Surrey,” says Brown. “This project provides us with the opportunity to support an incredibly important initiative while deepening and continuing that history.” Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation launched the OH BABY appeal for a new maternity unit in April, 2009 and celebrated the completion of the $5.3-million, community-funded maternity unit in February, 2011. The new unit is 50 per cent larger and has three times the birthing capacity of the old maternity unit, and is comprised of eight modern, spacious single-family birthing rooms. The OH BABY appeal for a new maternity unit is one of five priority projects in the Foundation’s Partners in Caring Campaign, launched in 2007. The campaign has raised $25 million. To date, four projects have been funded: Two floors (previously shelled-in) of new acute-care space, an MRI, a new maternity unit, and the Centre for Active Living. The fifth and final Partners in Caring project is a plan for a new ER, which currently is in development. Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation raises funds and awareness to enhance health and wellness in our community.
